A Community Program 4 US Veterans

Posted by on in Community
We are a community project that unites all demographics and neighborhoods in thanking local US military, veterans, their spouses, widows and children. This program inspires patriotism. It teaches responsibility to country and community by honoring those that volunteer to serve in the US military and to protect our lives with their own. This is a program that schools use for their students to fulfill their community service requirements. It stimulates local economies. It is a great help to senior citizens. And is a wonderful source of help for residents who need an extra hand with chores and repairs, and for businesses...

Project Management: A Perfect Fit 4 Veterans

Posted by on in Jobs For Veterans
Project Management can be a great path for US veterans today. It is the one core competency that most US military trained personnel possess.US veterans have project management experience. US veterans are a natural fit for the project management world.  Project managers are in strong demand and their salaries are continuing to climb, worldwide. The latest PMI salary survey found the median salary for project managers in the U.S. is $85,000. (PMPs with certain educational backgrounds, as in IT, Health and Security and others, make more.) The only thing that you must have is a PMP certification (Project Management Professional). This proves...

June 15, 1864, 200 acres of a 1,100-acre estate in Northern Virginia were officially designated for use as a national cemetery. Today, approximately 400,000 individuals are interred or inurned at the 624-acres of hallowed ground we know as Arlington National Cemetery. While the cemetery was born out of the Civil War, there are veterans of every one of America’s conflicts, from the American Revolution through today, interred there. The stories of the men and women laid to rest at Arlington, known and unknown, are the stories of America. By the end of the Civil War, there were approximately 15,000 service members...

Why Celebrate Christmas?

Posted by on in News
This is the Story of Christmas: Many years before Jesus Christ was born prophets spoke of his coming. The Old Testament is filled with promises of the “Son of God” becoming a “Son of man” and stepping down from his throne in heaven to dwell among us. About 2014 years ago that event happened. “God in the flesh” issued forth from a virgin named Mary. Once his body had grown and he became a man he proved that he was the “Messiah” by fulfilling hundreds of specific prophecies, and by healing the blind, the lame, the diseased, and raising the dead. No...

Veterans between 20-35 have a higher unemployment rate than non-veterans. This will be a positive news for our veterans who are living in NY. The new state law gives businesses up to $5,000 in tax credits when hiring a veteran full-time. The amount goes up to $15,000 if that veteran is disabled. A different bill creates funds to help homeless veterans find housing. New Yorkers can contribute when filling out income taxes.   http://www.mychamplainvalley.com/story/d/story/hire-a-vet-tax-credit-among-ny-laws-going-into-eff/70462/IOp4QIcom0CSiEFNykgpQQ     Roshan Chandrasekara http://hirepatriots.com/FortBragg  ...

Feel free to wish our troops a Merry Christmas here, folks! And if you're serving, or have served, feel free to read them - they're for you.... Past, present, future, we will remember them. Each and every soldier who has shown endless bravery and selflessness in the war against terror by putting themselves out on the line, risking their lives for the good of their nations. Supporting all our soldiers who have sacrificed their own time, energy and in some cases, their lives, out in Afghanistan and Iraq. They deserve the utmost respect, respect which at the moment they do not...

Posted by on in News
HirePatriots is always excited to be doing the Lord's work. It is an honor to be called to serve our US veterans and their families. And we have expanded our vital One Day job board for veterans to 42 states!    We have been holding advanced transitional seminars for veterans looking for work. We have been...

A Veteran's Christmas Carol

Posted by on in News
A Different Christmas Poem      The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,       I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.       My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,       My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.       Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,       Transforming the yard to a winter delight.                                                                                                                   The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,       Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.     My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,       Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.       In perfect contentment, or so it...

Young People vs. Old People

Posted by on in News
The one great advantage that older people have over younger ones is perspective. We have already been young. As the saying goes: “Been there. Done that.”Our viewpoint gives us a certain amount of wisdom unavailable to any younger generation. However, what Youth has are passion and ideals. We both share a certain dose of both perceptivity and zeal; but, not in the same measure. Ironically, a common developmental attitude that occurs when young is that of being superior in knowledge and disdainful of parents and figures of authority. Often they have little or no regard for the labors and sacrifices of...

Hatred is for Hypocrites

Posted by on in General
At his time of year, I take the risk of talking about my personal belief in Jesus Christ. First, let me apologize for any “Christians” who have offended you with judgment, rudeness or scorn. Believe me, I know how that feels too. I am not one of them. My heart does not discriminate when sharing God’s love. And truthfully, it is sometimes easier for me to love people who do not share my religious beliefs than those who claim to do so. Jesus Christ does not discriminate either. During his life, he often spent time with prostitutes, drunks, lepers, thieves, liars,...

Entertainment with a Green Twist

Posted by on in Entertainment
The Stage is set for Eco-friendly Initiatives I’ve always maintained that watching a show on Broadway is an experience of a lifetime. It’s not just the performers who light up the stage- nay, set it on fire, but rather the combined effort of the entire industry including the producers, designers, theater owners, et al. I have a lot of respect for their craft, but there’s another reason that this community scores big in my book and that is for its effort to reduce its carbon footprint. Broadway shows have among the most elaborate sets, costumes, and peripheral infrastructure. The term ‘green’...

Veteran Program to Unite Americans

Posted by on in News
We are creating local, community HirePatriots websites and job boards across America. The purpose of these sites are to build stronger ties with civilians, students and veterans and to increase patriotism nationwide.  We now have HirePatriots sites in 42 states, with some states having sites in multiple communities. The emphasis of these sites are to get residents to hire local US military, veterans and their spouses when they need help with chores and repairs around their homes and yards; and to get businesses in each community to offer veterans sustainable employment.  When we started this in San Diego 10 years ago,...

First, every job seeking US veteran should go to their nearest America Job Center. This is a national Labor Dept. program that has a mandate to give US veterans priority service. They are in every state with multiple offices. Veterans should apply for "Tier II" status. They will be assigned a personal case manager with the instructions to prepare veterans for employment and to introduce them to companies in the area that are hiring. The Tier II program will reimburse employers 50% of the salary they pay to their Tier II candidates. This is a big help in getting them hired.   ...

Are US Veteran Unemployment Stats Erroneous?

Posted by on in News
The American Legion, the US Chamber of Commerce and Vet Jobs rejoice in letting everyone know that there is not a veteran unemployment problem. To support this claim they always quote the statistics published by the Labor Dept. that are currently at 6.9%. On first look that number sounds excellent. But is it an accurate assessment of the true employment reality for veterans? I cannot doubt the accuracy of these numbers; but, I do strongly question their interpretation of them. Here is a quote from the Bureau of Labor Statistics: “Among the 722,000 unemployed veterans in 2013, 60 percent were age...
