Recently I have gotten a lot of calls and emails about the veterans e-waste project, people are asking a range of questions from how can I help to what is it. Some of the more business minded veterans have said that the PowerPoint and website don't really explain everything in such away that you can make an informed decision. To all of you I say well done, your minds have wrapped around a new project that is going to greatly benefit each and everyone of your local communities and you have the opportunity to spearhead it. When it comes to the...

The Extinction of Bees & Butterflies

Posted by on in News
Billion of butterflies and bees are dying off. Many are convinced it is due to Round Up and other such pesticides. The annual mass migration of 60 million monarchs from Canada to Mexico is one of the most beautiful phenomena in the natural world. But it's now on the verge of being a relic of history, and a key link in our food chain is under threat.   Wouldn't it be wise to stop the use of the prime suspects that may be causing this extinction before it is too late?  How can governments permit this to continue? Immediate action must be taken! Is it possible...

Last night I was on the phone with Mark and Tori discussing ideas for new topics to help me move forward with this blog. Mark observed that no one has given a service member’s perspective on the loss of Fallujah. The general population isn’t aware of the sacrifices US troops made to take Fallujah, whether it be loss of eye sight, limbs, or the ultimate sacrifice. If you were to ask what exactly we lost in Fallujah and why you should care, I would tell you this; we lost 4,500 of some of the best, most courageous men and women...

Great Resource for US Businesses and Citizens

Posted by on in News
Here is a sample from their newsletter. They educate us about a variety of subjects. Since we have begun Veterans Green Projects I am particularly interested in the Energy industry.   Energy“Now, one of the biggest factors in bringing more jobs back is our commitment to American energy.  The all-of-the-above energy strategy I announced a few years ago is working, and today, America is closer to energy independence than we’ve been in decades.“One of the reasons why is natural gas – if extracted safely, it’s the bridge fuel that can power our economy with less of the carbon...

The Olympic Spirit

Posted by on in Sports
Most of us have followed the Olympics from time to time. Pulling for our Countrymen, having a preference to the summer games or the ones in winter.  It’s easy to get hooked watching these young, daredevils fly down a mountain, do a 100 meter dash, and almost break their neck on the bobsled or downhill skiing. Whatever “tickles you”, there is a “spirit” that moves those individuals to participate at their very best. Often I think of their triumph, their tragedy. These guys and gals put in incredible hours training, they forfeit much: potential jobs, maybe a personal relationship, opportunity for...

I found myself sitting in a conference room at an Outplacement Agency in Buffalo New York. The prior day I went into work like any other day but by 5:00 PM I was no longer working there.  I packed up my box of belongings and drove away numb. The employer was kind enough to send me to an excellent outplacement agency where I was surprised to meet several more of my former co-workers that also were laid off.  As a form of therapy they had us go around the table and tell our stories along with the other dozen people...

The day started out normal enough. I left home around 6:30AM to go to work. I didn’t feel great about this since it was my wife’s birthday and my team had accepted a contract to do some marketing work at Emory and Georgia Tech for the Economist Magazine. I’m a writer but have been making ends meet as a brand manager for various brand launches. This was the final day of the contract for this particular job. A few hours getting the word out, then I’d be back home with my wife and one-year-old son to celebrate.   After a...
