The reality of war is that everyone gets wounded. Some wounds heal rapidly, but some last for a lifetime. Some wounds can be seen. Some wounds are invisible inside the heart, soul, and spirit of the warrior. These unseen wounds are often the most difficult to heal - they must heal from the inside out.

Whenever a person or family is suddenly confronted with the world-changing experience of a catastrophic spinal cord injury or brain injury, there are a host of questions but seemingly few solid answers. These questions involve a wide spectrum of issues: health, rehabilitation, hope for recovery, current research, financial, legal, and the list goes on.

San Diego North County Blue Star Mothers is a support group serving the San Diego area military and families. Our founding mothers first came together in September 2005 and meet regularly to share our worries, pride, and devotion to our children who are now serving in every branch of the military.
We are an official chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., a group formed in 1942 in Flint , Michigan . We received our Congressional Charter in 1960 and currently have over 3000 members nationwide. The Blue Star Mothers of America is a non-partisan, non-political, non-sectarian, non-discriminatory and non-profit organization. We do not support any political candidate, nor do we endorse any religious organization.
The military represents all aspects of America, as does our organization. Our mission is to support through service.

Supporting our troops and helping the families they leave behind
You are cordially invited to attend the Operation Homefront “Wounded Warrior Wives Support Group.” The support group is one part of Operation Homefront's Wounded Warrior Wives, a project to provide comprehensive support to caregivers of wounded warriors. The support group will help its members prepare for what may be a lifelong management of their spouse's disabilities, and will also assist with issues such as modifications to the home for those who've suffered amputations, attaining financial stability, and coping with the emotional stages of recuperation progress. While the meetings will be facilitated by a licensed marriage and family therapist, the lifeblood of the groups will be the wives themselves. This is a support group by caregivers for caregivers. They will be able to come together and share ideas that thoughts with their peers – others who have “been there.” This will be a time of relaxation and bonding with other wives that are navigating through the same new waters.
Members of the support groups will also receive a small token of appreciation from the community at each meeting. We know that often times, during the initial stages of an injury, the family is so focused on the recovery of the spouse that the wife is often times overlooked. The wife plays such a pivotal part of the recovery that they too need to be taken care of and treated to something special.
Group locations and times are as follows (beginning in September):
2nd & 4th Monday of every month
10am – 12pm
2774 Jefferson St
Carlsbad, CA 92008

Soldiers' Angels was started by a self-described ordinary mother of an ordinary young man turned hero, Sgt. Brandon Varn. Brandon was deployed in Iraq and has since honorably completed his mission and has returned back to his proud and loving family.
In the summer of 2003, he wrote home expressing his concern that some soldiers did not receive any mail or support from home. Being a caring and loving mother, she decided not to allow a situation like that to continue. She contacted a few friends and extended family to ask if they would write to a soldier or two. Within a few short months, Soldiers' Angels went from a mother writing a few extra letters to an Internet Community with thousands of angels worldwide.
