Filling the ‘Employment Gap’ for US Veterans

Posted by on April 23, 2012 in Uncategorized

Between leaving the US military and finding sustainable employment the average US veteran will take two to three years.  Too often within this time, these stalwart citizens and their families sink into severe poverty. And so there exists an ‘employment gap’ between transitioning from the US military and gainful employment that must be filled.

Many of these US veterans joined soon after 9/11. They volunteered. And a great deal of them have served in combat. They have endured the rigors and horror of war. And their families have endured hardships too.  — Of all US citizens, none deserve our grateful assistance more than these defenders of our liberty.

HirePatriots.com is a website and job board that provides the answer for this critical need. For almost a decade HirePatriots has provided a ‘temporary jobs’ posting section on their website. Residents and companies use this job board every day to fill their One Day, Freelance, Seasonal and Part Time jobs. – This job board is separate from their Full Time postings. — There is no charge for posting of searching jobs. This site is free to all.

The success of this unique job board has been phenomenal. — It began when a Marine, just returned from Iraq, discovered that during his deployment his wife has been laid off and she was unable to pay the family bills. By the time he returned home, his spouse and two small children were living without utilities. So like any US Marine, he took immediate action and began knocking on the doors of homes and asking for any work that the residents needed to have done, in order to earn enough money that day to get the lights and gas turned back on in his apartment.

He knocked on mark and Tori Baird’s home and they gave him enough work to solve his problem temporarily.  But the Baird’s knew that was not enough. So they created HirePatriots.com and included a Day Job board for residents to use when they need help around their homes and yards.  But they had no idea how well received their new website would be. Within a few months, that site was receiving 10,000 visits a week!

The local military personnel loved the opportunity to pick up extra income when they were off duty.  And perhaps even more importantly, the US veterans who had recently left the military found a means to support themselves during their long season of looking for full time, sustainable employment.

HirePatriots has now expanded into many states, stretching from Maine to Hawaii. And it has become one of the most popular job boards in the country. And with many companies now seeking to fill short term contract jobs, this is a great solution for them to employ these US veterans caught in the ‘Gap.’ And it provides the critical assistance that our US veterans need and deserve.

If you are a US company or a resident that needs to have some work done for a day of for a few months, go to www.HirePatriots.com and hire a man or woman who has proven that they are able to work hard and well under any circumstances. – Show your appreciation for these fine young men and women today. Hire active duty, Guard, Reserves and employment seeking, transitioned US veterans on HirePatriots.com.

Hello, I'm Mark Baird and I founded Hire Patriots. My wife and I are 'helpers.' We are concerned about meeting the practical needs of our US veterans and their families. We began a job board for local residents to post chores that they need help with. It has been very successful. Thousands of local US Military and veterans partially or entirely support themselves from our website. We are looking for others near US Military bases who would also like to have a HirePatriots.com website for their location. Find more information about our military programs at PatrioticHearts.org. And please make a contribution of any kind. Thank you.
