Have you been going through difficult times? I have. And when I am in the midst of trials, I sometimes turn towards Heaven and ask, “Why?” Or I wonder if God has given up on me. Maybe I sinned too much. – At times, I wonder if I am all alone in the universe, and I ask, “Does God love me, or even care about me?” – Do you ask these questions too?
That is when I must open the Bible read verses like this:
Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your savior… You are honored and I love you… You have been chosen to know me and to understand that I am alone am God… I, yes, I alone, am the one who blots out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again. — Isaiah 43
And then there are the men of God, the Apostles, and here is what they said to themselves and other Believers:
“Whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed you will be strong in character and ready for anything.” – James 1
All that God asks of us is to trust him. And when we go through trials, it gives an opportunity to practice faith. And if we live by faith then we will receive eternal life and blessings that “no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and things that have not even come into the mind of man.”
And when we choose to believe that God exists, that he cares about each of us individually, and that he has a plan and a purpose for everything we go through, we show faith.
And Faith is the mystery that is difficult to understand. – We enter into an intimate relationship with God only because He loves us, not because we love him, or because we have earned his love by doing good works. All God asks is that we hold on to him as a child grips their father’s hand when they are scared. If we do, God promises to carry us in his arms and to bring us to safety: A place of “green pastures and still waters.” — This is fantastic news!
King David wrote in his Psalms: “God is my rock, me defense, my shield. He is always there to help me when I am troubled. … The Lord is for me, so I will not be afraid.”
I hope that this has encouraged you and given you strength to get through another day. – And that is all that God asks, is for us to take one day at a time, and not to worry about tomorrow, because today has enough for us to deal with.
Keep the faith!
