How About Some Straight Talk for a Change?
Although the success rate for veteran-owned businesses is comparatively higher than non veteran firms (start-ups through mature firms up to ten years in business), the failure percentages remain daunting. The latest data for employer businesses (those with one or more employees) (the real driving engines for our economy and growth) showed that although 400,000 new businesses were created, 470,000 died nationwide – a “deficit” of 70,000 no longer there (US Census Bureau) http://thechairmansblog.gallup.com/2014/02/the-us-economy-kidding-ourselves.html (2014).
Scrutiny of the 2008-2013 data shows that more than half of all business failures/discontinuances were attributable to lack of timely and needed financing and inadequacies in best business practices know how. Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (“GEM”) National Entrepreneurial Assessment for the United States of America (2013) http://www.babson.edu/Academics/centers/blank-center/global-research/gem/Documents/GEM%20USA%202013.pdf
The simple fact is that the overwhelming causes stem from self inflicted knowledge deficiencies respecting best business practices and “real world” business financing how-to or acumen.
Contrary to popular beliefs, finding new or expanding the business opportunities are neither the driving forces for sustained success/profitability or curative for the core issues that can cripple a business. In fact, such can often be the worse possible circumstance. Yet anywhere and everywhere are wholesale efforts promoting business development opportunities, ignoring entirely fundamental key requisite and critical ingredients that must exist to be truly successful.
The real facts. As recently and succinctly stated in the Veteran Entrepreneurship Task Force (Vet-Force) June, 2014 meeting, Washington, DC, “all the business development on the planet is totally meaningless without timely and adequate financing at every stage of development”. Without that requisite core business best practices and “real world” financing proficiencies in place, statistically prospects portend unpleasant detours, costly pitfalls, and far too often terminal endings. It becomes not a question of whether, but when?
Operation Veteran Empowerment was specifically created to remedy and remove those knowledge deficiency risks. OpVet was specifically created to advantage and arm every veteran business owner or entrepreneur with the requisite financial “intel” and best business practices knowledge – overwhelmingly proven to be the critical links for “real world” business successes. That means more veteran jobs. That means enhanced economic benefits for veteran families – all “win-win-win” scenarios.
All Operation Veteran Empowerment educational and informational arrays are FREE for all veterans and their families (children, grand children, etc.). Being prepared and better armed means far better prospects for success. Download and see for yourself.
What have you got to lose? Actually a whole lot and perhaps everything!
