I am neither an ‘expert’ nor a ‘guru.’ But over the last few years of blogging almost daily, I have had more success than most of my contemporaries who claim those titles. I will show you what I do. If you know of better ways then please let me know.
Why Blog? By posting blogs on your website you add search engine content. And by posting your blogs on the social networks, you can attract multitudes of new people to your website. Whereas, if you do not blog, the only way anyone will find your site is if they know your web address and type it in. Because you will almost certainly be buried deep in the Google search results, et al.
Title: This is perhaps most important of all. – Boring titles get boring results; whereas, creative and engaging titles will draw many new visitors to your site, particularly if you use SEO rich tags.
What is a Title Tag? Title tags are also part of what makes people decide whether to visit your site when it shows up in the search results. The title tag should contain important keywords to help the search engine determine what the page is about.
Example: Go to http://www.lvrj.com/ Above the address bar, at the tip-top of your page you will see “RJ Las Vegas News Business, Entertainment Information – ReviewJournal.com” (You may need to hold your cursor over it to read the entire title. — That is how title tags appear in a browser that uses the bar to display title tags (other browsers might only use the tab space or not show them at all.)
The web address is simply lvrj.com. But to help search engines and others identify and know what this website is all about, they have added Title Tags: News, Business, Entertainment Information. – Title tags are also part of what makes people decide whether to visit your site when it shows up in the search results. The title tag should contain important keywords to help the search engine determine what the page is about.
A title tag is THE MOST IMPORTANT SINGLE TAG in your page. It tells the search engines what your page is about. It is vitally important to your SEO strategy. Your most important keywords need to be first in your title tag, with your least important words in the title tag. Do not replicate your title tags. Make It Relevant: Title tags must be written to be descriptive of the content on the page. For instance, on your ABOUT US page
About Us | (Your Important Keywords) | Company Name
Say your site is trying to rank for Blue Bells. Many times you will see the main keyword repeated multiple times across the title tag. It might appear like this:
Blue Bells, All Types of Bells | Bells Bells and More | Doors.com
This is bad title tag writing. You don’t need to repeatedly write the keyword. Google especially can pick up the keywords like your eyes can read them, so you would best to rewrite this as
Blue | Doorbells | Doors.com
Use this same method when tagging your blog posts. And repeat the same keyword tags within your posts too.
Every time that you post a blog, you add another web page to your site. And you are also adding new, fresh content to your site, which is a major boost in SEO (search engine optimization).
If you have a business, but you do not have a blog effectively connected to the social networks, you are probably going out of business or soon will be, particularly if your competitors have them.
