I received message from a LinkedIn connection In February.
James Maloney is MA National Guardsman attached to a Special Forces unit in Afghanistan. There is an Orphanage near him. He is asking for help to supply the children with much needed basic item, clothes, school supplies, and some sporting equipment and maybe some toys to bring a little enjoyment in these kids lives.
All Children need to have Fun
There has been some excellent news. Support is coming in The Kick for Nick organization has sent dozens of soccer balls and a pump. This is a great foundation in memory of a fallen hero.
Joanne M. Towner has been a great Patriotic supporter She has sent boxes of basic needs. She has a son who a “tanker’ in The US ARMY. Barb Gabri from SPHR, has also sent boxes and gotten some local Patriotic organizations invovled in Maine This Patriotic Mom has a son in the Marines and a son in law who is a Marine.
Major Jim can use more support. Please send what you can. Every little bit helps.
Here is a copy of James Maloney’s request: Date: 2/11/2011 Subject: Aghani Orphanage
There is an Orphanage near my base. In the past another soldier had people send him stuff for the orphanage. He has gone home. This is something I would like to continue.
If you can send cloths or school supplies for kids 2-12,please send them to me. Gently used sporting equipment would be appreciated as well.

The new contact for the Afghan Orphanage (replacing Major Maloney, who left mid Sept) is:
CAPT Shawn Cramer
APO AE 09356
However, I have never felt is was good to publicly give out names and addresses for security reasons. I prefer to have people contact you to ask for them so you can at least track who is sending packages. This is what DOD has always recommended. I do not give them out to anyone except another non-profit org.

Hello, I'm Mark Baird and I founded Hire Patriots. My wife and I are 'helpers.' We are concerned about meeting the practical needs of our US veterans veterans and their families. We began a job board for local residents to post chores that they need help with. It has been very successful. Thousands of local US Military and veterans partially or entirely support themselves from our website. We are looking for others near US Military bases who would also like to have a HirePatriots.com website for their location. We also hold welcome home parties, military marriage retreats, job fairs and create military family gardens.
