Seeking A Purpose for Life?

Posted by on September 10, 2012 in News

HirePatriots is a higher calling. Many of us have volunteered many hundreds of hours. And some of us have sacrificed everything we have in order to achieve the goal set before us: To provide an employment safety net for all US veterans, past and present.

Just as someone dedicates themself to serving in a church or a synagogue or mosque, without expectation of worldly reward, we too find fulfillment in service, not in what we receive in return. – My wife and I have given a large portion of our lives to causes, community and Christian service. — Children, US veterans, marriages, and providing employment have been the particular ways that God has called us to serve.

Just like in the ‘Parable of the Sower,’ (Matthew 13:1-23), this high calling is responded to by various kinds of people:

“That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. 2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. 3 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed.”

1) “Some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.” — When anyone hears the message about HirePatriots’ and does not understand it, this is the seed sown along the path.

2) “Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched.” — The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears about HirePatriots and at once receives it with joy.  But they last only a short time.

3) “Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants.” — The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears about HirePatriots, but the worries of this life make them unfruitful.

4) “Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”– The seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears about HirePatriots and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

Matthew 22:14 says: “For many are called, but few are chosen.” And my wife and I feel the same way. We truly appreciate all of the people and businesses that have joined this calling to ministry. But indeed, we always find that to allay our disappointments, we must just keep sowing the seed, and slowly reap a harvest of people who hear about our cause and respond like seed falling on fertile ground.

We receive temporary assistance from people who come aboard for reasons not wholly aligned with ours. And we appreciate everyone’s help.  But we especially are on the look-out for others that truly believe in this:

Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full: Pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”

If you want to participate in achieving a tremendous goal, and you are willing to volunteer and to sacrifice, we would like to talk with you.

Hello, I'm Mark Baird and I founded Hire Patriots. My wife and I are 'helpers.' We are concerned about meeting the practical needs of our US veterans veterans and their families. We began a job board for local residents to post chores that they need help with. It has been very successful. Thousands of local US Military and veterans partially or entirely support themselves from our website. We are looking for others near US Military bases who would also like to have a HirePatriots.com website for their location. We also hold welcome home parties, military marriage retreats, job fairs and create military family gardens.
