America is still here because of those who have been willing to lay down their lives to protect us. Our Thanksgiving today is because of them. Most Americans will be with their families today and will enjoy that fellowship around a heavily laden table. But hundreds of thousands of our US Armed Forces will not. They are on guard, protecting us. Their families here at home will miss them.
We are so proud of all you. We love you. Thank you for the sacrifices and hardships you endure on our behalf.
Dear God, please protect our men and women in the US military. Watch over and provide for their families. Keep them safe. Bless them for their service to us. Especially be with those that have lost loved ones who died doing so. Make this day one of joy, instead of sadness. Especially bless the children of our veterans. Their lives are not like other US children’s.
Dear Jesus, be with our homeless veterans and their families who will not be enjoying this day as they deserve. Lift them up from their troubles. Set them on firm ground. Touch the hearts of every American to assist them. They are America’s forgotten patriots.
Please bless America, dear Lord. Thank you for our nation’s power, resources and the liberty you have preserved for us. Hear our thanks today. You have led us throughout the centuries and kept our light shining. Praise your name!
In His service,
Mark Baird
