There is so much negativity going, starting with our economy; the rise and fall of titans; Congress’ repeated failures to act on the simplest of matters leaving the nation void and in peril only paralleled with the never ending saga of attacking Obama’s régime and their myriad endeavors to make things right; only to be met with potential new leaders for offering neoteric promises; with veterans, both past and present feeling the wrath and brunt of it all.
Personally I believe President Obama is fighting the good fight facing a difficult chameleon front. In corporate America he’d have amble grounds for an injurious lawsuit. To say the least one of our great nations embarrassment for Congress to engage so dastardly; however this is politics and veterans have always been and forever will remain,… expendable.
This would be a great Halloween story if it were not so surreal because it is scary, albeit really frightening. I won’t say we’ve heard it all before because there will always be a new twist or enticing ‘carrot on a stick.’ Nothing really changes, new leadership with their rank and file offering romantic and whimsical pledges to make things right. Especially those fallacious veteran promises and assurances. Yeah right; why does it always have to be us?
Soldiers past and present, those broken and unbroken are not easily swayed with anecdotal promises; sadly we’ve heard them time and time again. We remain holding the bag and making the impossible plausible; mind you it’s not because we are magicians; we are resourceful and will never cower and walk away. Make no mistake we are not bitter; although dislike being misled and tired of broken promises.
The veteran unemployment and homeless rate is worse than the economy; there’ve been more twists, turns and dead stops marveling any global roller coaster ride ever. So how do we traverse across this once chartered territory and regain our bearing? We do what we do best, route reconnaissance, networking and collaboration, winning back everything one piece at a time. I ask those who read this to please consider giving a veteran a chance; we come from noble stock and we understand what adversity and commitment is all about.
