VERIZON TEAMS WITH HIREPATRIOTS.COM TO HIRE US VETERANS
Verizon Adopts Unique Job Board to Meet Its Short and Long Term Needs
New Jersey, May 16, 2012 — In order to fulfill Verizon’s commitment to hiring US veterans they have joined HirePatriots’ association of businesses dedicated to the same purpose. The primary goal of HirePatriots’ members is to form an employment safety net for US veterans in every state and metro region of America. Verizon now has its own HirePatriots website on which it is posting its temporary and full-time jobs. And eventhough the site has just been launched, 68 US veterans already have been hired to fill Verizon positions.
Every HirePatriots member shares a common full-time job board. But each member has its own, independent HirePatriots web address. This allows each company to promote its support of US veterans through the posting of blogs, videos and testimonies. But in addition, they are able to encourage other businesses within their particular network and sphere of influence to also post jobs. – All job postings and resume searches are free on HirePatriots.com.
Verizon is also using HirePatriots’ unique Day Job board to post temporary, seasonal and contract employment. – Until Verizon’s participation, the One Day job board was being used exclusively by US residents to hire local military members and veterans to help them with chores around their homes and yards on a day to day basis. Now that job board also includes temporary jobs posted by Verizon and the companies it is notifying and encouraging to do so too.
The CEO for Verizon, Lowell McAdam, is a Navy veteran who served in the Seabees. “I feel honored to have served in the military,” McAdam says. “I’ve told many others that it’s a great way for anyone to start any career. The things you learn in the military stay with you for life, and the bonds developed among service members are also lifelong and serve you well in a business career.” — 7% of Verizon’s current workforce is composed of US veterans.
Evan Guzman is in charge of Verizon’s Talent Acquisitions for Military & Veterans.
