Why America is Great

We revel in the story of American entrepreneurs like Bill Gates, who created Microsoft from his garage.  And recently, the film about Mark  Zuckerberg creating Facebook as an underclassman in college continued the lineage of inspirational examples of Free Enterprise.  These are the one we all read about.  But there are thousands of other great America stores.

We are amazing and unique people.  We are a culture of adventurers.  Yes, we are national pioneers.  We are quintessential entrepreneurs.

Here is a story of one of those many thousands of innovative American business pioneers: Mine.

I never felt comfortable being an employee. I had a problem. I always took the responsibilities of whatever duties I had very seriously. And I tried to excel in every task required. I  always strove to do my best. -- This was youthful idealism. Because my strategy was never well received by my fellow workers.

So I was forced into going into business for myself in my early twenties.-- first, I created a carpet cleaning business. That grew into a janitorial business that had multiple accounts the length of California. It required quite a few employees. -- So began hiring local military people and veterans to clean my clients' offices. At that time, most were Vietnam veterans.

By the time I 50 I fully owned my house i Oceanside and had enough to last a lifetime in savings. But true entrepreneurs never fade away. neither did I.-- One day, a local  Marine who had just returned home from Iraq, knocked on my door. This Marine had been the only survivor in a vehicle carrying other Marines that hit an I.E.D.-- While he was deployed and then recovering from his injuries in Germany, his wife was laid off from her job. By the time he got home, the family car was repossessed and the utilities were turned off. So he did what all Marines do: he took immediate action.

"Sir," he said, trying to stand as erect as marines are trained to do, "Is there any work that I can do for you around your home and yard? I need to earn some extra money fast to pay some bills."

This experience inspired me to help this Marine and others like him. What could I do to prevent other US military veterans from sinking in debt? -- Fortunately, in America we have the freedom to imagine and then to make it a reality. This is our greatest gift to the world. now helps tens of thousands of veterans and people everyday. It has regional representatives in multiple states throughout the union. It has been consistently touted in the Press. And it is one of the highest ranked websites in the country.

We Americans can dream and turn them into realities. There are no limits to what we can imagine and achieve. -- What we must protect at all costs is our freedom to create and sustain small businesses.

Many politicians who are not business owners, do not understand the importance of laissez fair and allowing free enterprise to flourish in America. It is our backbone. It is the foundation of our freedom. -- America is indeed the light of the world's nations. We must persevere to insure our Constitutional liberties and allow freedom to ring throughout our land. And this is only possible if US small businesses are encouraged and allowed to thrive.

Hello, I'm Mark Baird and I founded Hire Patriots. My wife and I are 'helpers.' We are concerned about meeting the practical needs of our US veterans veterans and their families. We began a job board for local residents to post chores that they need help with. It has been very successful. Thousands of local US Military and veterans partially or entirely support themselves from our website. We are looking for others near US Military bases who would also like to have a website for their location. We also hold welcome home parties, military marriage retreats, job fairs and create military family gardens.
