Job Description: Ex-Military or Retired Officer Mentor

Title:

Live-In or Part-Time Mentor / Life Coach for Young Adult Male (Military or Law Enforcement Background Preferred)

Overview:

We’re seeking a disciplined, empathetic, and structured mentor—ideally with a military or law enforcement background—to provide support, guidance, and accountability to an 18-year-old young man facing behavioral and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, patient, and has experience working with young adults or teens in a mentorship, coaching, or leadership capacity.

Responsibilities:

• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the teen
• Model healthy habits, emotional regulation, and structure
• Support daily routines (sleep, meals, hygiene, movement)
• Assist with life skills and personal responsibility
• Encourage emotional expression and respectful communication
• Help redirect negative behaviors through consistent, compassionate reinforcement
• Coordinate with family and professionals, if needed
• Optional: provide physical activity support (walks, workouts, etc.)
• Optional: live on-site (private room provided)

Qualifications:

• Veteran, retired police officer, or similar leadership background
• Experience with teens or young adults (preferred)
• Trauma-informed approach and high emotional intelligence
• Clean criminal record (background check required)
• CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to become)
• Patient, consistent, and firm but fair personality

Compensation:

• Competitive hourly wage or stipend
• Room and board included (if live-in)
• Flexible schedule depending on availability
