An Extraordinary Doctor 4 People & Animals

San Diego has an extraordinary doctor. He works at Tri-City Hospitals Intensive Care facility day and night, saving peoples’ lives, especially during this Covid crisis. And when he is not there, he rescues dogs and horses! He cares for them on his ranch in Murrietta’s Tejana Ecological Reserve.

As if that were not enough, now he is working with a US veteran charity, Patriotic Hearts, to turn his horse ranch into a healing center. He especially wants it to serve US veterans, first reponders, police, and his fellow doctors and nurses, including their families.

They will all have a place to recover and recuperate. Caring for and forming a bond with wounded horses and dogs has been proven to be exceptionally helpful in restoring physical, emotional and psychological health. And during these turbulent and trying times, these Americans, serving on our front lines, need such a place as where the Horses4HealingHeroes program will reside that the doctor envisions.

In addition, Dr. Kaveh Farhoomand wants to develop gardens and groves of fruit trees at his ranch to feed veterans and their families. This also is a healing and healthy activity. He also desires to also create an Art program. Too, his ranch is located in the Tanaja Ecological Preserve, which has beautiful places to hike, and even a waterfall.

Dr. Kevah Farhoomand grew up in America. After attending college at San Diego State University, he completed his medical training in Cleveland, before returning to San Diego.

When he was a young boy, he travelled with his parents to Iran, which was at that time a favored ally of the United States. Unfortunately, soon after arriving in Iran the Islamic Revelution happened, which overthrew the Shah, and replaced him with hard-line Muslims. — Because his family were Jewish Christians they were hunted for execution. They had to hide for several months before being able to escape. Many of their friends and neighbors were murdered. The escaped by climbing over Mt. Ararat in Turkey! Eventually, they made it back home to America.

In this season of difficulty, America is discovering unsung local heroes. Dr. Kaveh Farhoomand is certainly a hero in the greater San Diego area. — Do you want to help him to care for rescue horses and dogs? Will you enjoy feeding and grooming these dear animals who are starving for affection? Would enjoy doing this?

Horses 4 Healing Heroes is a non-prfofit program Patriotic Hearts has created to assist Dr. Kaveh. We urgently need volunteers who will water, feed, and clean the horses and their stalls. This is when mutual healing begins. We are also in need of ‘horse people.’ Any asssitance you can offer toward the development of the ranch, oversight, funding, … you are greatly welcome! — Please message or call 760-730-3734.
