Over a million US veterans have severe disabilities that severely impact their ability to work, including amputations, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and PTSD. — The VA provides healthcare, but not all treatments and specialized care are covered.
And the Department of Government Efficiency has announced plans to fire 80,000 V.A. employees, many of which suffer from disabilities and rely on their federal employment for financial stability and access to healthcare benefits.
Plus, since many veterans become disabled at a younger age, they don’t qualify for sufficient Social Security benefits to support themselves.
Too, most US veterans who have returned to the civilian world struggle to find and maintain stable employment, especially those with severe injuries.
